How to Link Pinterest to Facebook

May 4, 2013  |  Internet Instructographics

Linking your Pinterest account to Facebook is easy – you can link both your personal profile and your Facebook pages. This instructographic explains how to login using Facebook and post your Pinterested activity on your timeline. You will also learn how you can create a Pinterest tab on your Facebook page.

There are several benefits to linking Facebook and Pinterest.

Easy login via Facebook

If you are always logged into Facebook on your PC or mobile device, you can log in to Pinterest via the Facebook button, which saves you time.

Auto-publish your activity on your Facebook timeline

With the two accounts linked, the pins you publish will appear in an activity box on your Facebook profile page. This will be visible to your Facebook friends, who will be able to like and comment on your pins. This encourages more people to know about your Pinterest account and it gives you more engagement on Facebook itself.

Bear in mind that this only works with your personal Facebook account, so if you are running several Pinterest accounts, decide which one is your personal one.

Creating a Pinterest tab on your Facebook page

Most users of your Facebook page will only ever look at your status updates, so I won’t pretend a Pinterest tab will make a massive difference, but there are intangible benefits. First, it’s good to let people see how to find you on other networks, if they do navigate to your page to check you out. Second, the Pinterest content in the Facebook tab does invite more engagement, which is important if you want to maintain visibility for your content on Facebook.

The best benefit of Pinterest is often overlooked

When you publish content on Facebook or Twitter, that content has a short shelf life. Status updates will attract comments for a short time but then they are forgotten and hard to find. On Pinterest, content is evergreen. You will find pins being discovered and shared long after you post them.
